FaChica Austin-Alderson is a Chicago native who is thrilled to be a part of the Studio One Dance Theatre family. She began her dance training at an early age with Muntu African Dance Theater. She has studied at various schools throughout the Chicago area, including the Joel Hall Dance Center, Hubbard Street Dance, Studio One Dance Theatre, Deeply Rooted Productions, and Sammy Dyer. FaChica credits most of her creative dance energy to Studio One Dance Theatre.
Caren Blackmore is a professional actress, print model and voice over artist. Native of Philadelphia she has been acting on stages across the Chicago-area for the last 7 years. She has worked with MPAACT, ETA, Victory Gardens, Black Ensemble Theater, Theatre Wit, Court Theatre and Writer’s Theatre among others. Ms. Caren began her studies at the historical Freedom Theatre in Philadelphia and continued at The Eugene O’Neill National Theatre Institute, and with The Royal Shakespeare Company. She is a graduate of Oberlin College and a proud member of Actor’s Equity and SAG/AFTRA. Ms. Caren is represented by Grossman & Jack Talent. You can see her in action on stage in Timeline Theatre’s production of, SPILL (Oct 30 – Dec 19).
Tre Dumas received most of his early dance training and his first teaching experience at Mayfair Academy. Mr. Dumas was featured in the North American and European tours of Riverdance for three years. In 2001 he co-founded the M.A.D.D. Rhythms Tap Academy later. Dumas has taught and performed extensively throughout the continental U.S. and Germany as well as other parts of Europe and South America.
Reuben D. Echoles is a native of Chicago and has been seen on stages around Chicago and the U.S. including Black Ensemble, eta, and Congo Square. This is Rueben’s 12th season with Studio One and he is excited to be back with us once again. Rueben is currently Artistic director of Black Ensemble and teaches acting classes far and wide in the Chicago area.
Terry Francois Born and raised in Miami, Florida is where Terry Francois studied theatre. Moving to Chicago to pursue it full time Terry has worked with several theater companies which include MPAACT, Black ensemble theater, Court theatre and Steppenwolf garage rep. Recently Terry toured his one-man show “thugs love musicals.”
Tracey Franklin hails from Chicago, IL, and began her training at the age of 16 at Joseph Holmes Dance Theater. Tracey then moved on to study at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. She has worked with noted choreographers such as Donald Byrd, Kevin Iega Jeff, Alonzo King and Donald McKayle. She was also a company member of Dallas Black Dance Theatre. Tracey is currently a Company member of Deeply Rooted Dance Theater and is extremely excited to be a part of your child’s dance experience and the Studio One family!
Robyn Veronica Haynes, a native of Chicago, began her dance training at the age of three here at the Studio One Dance Conservatory. Robyn attended Curie Metropolitan High School for the Arts in Chicago, where she studied dance for two years with Melinda Wilson, in addition to being a student at Studio One. Robyn has had the pleasure of studying with world-renowned instructors, including Jimmy Payne Jr. and LeVon Campbell.
Dana Nolan began her training at a variety of Chicago summer dance programs, and continued her training at Studio One Dance Theatre, Whitney M. Young Magnet High School, and the summer intensive program at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in New York. Dana attended Southern Illinois University, Carbondale where she received a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations.
Nicole Clarke Springer As a graduate of Butler University‘s dance department, Springer has performed with the Indianapolis Ballet Theater, Deeply Rooted Dance Ensemble and The Clifton Brown Dance Company in Istanbul, Turkey.
Dereque Whiturs, a native of Dallas, Texas, has trained with such artists as Alvin Ailey, Ulysses Dove, Donald McKayle, Donald Byrd, Talley Beatty and George Faison. Dereque was a principal dancer with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre under the direction of Alvin Ailey where he traveled the United States and Europe for 13 years. Mr. Whiturs is currently a principle dancer with Deeply Rooted Productions in Chicago IL.
